Trapped In My Own Home

The classic disabled logo of a white stick figure using a wheelchair on a blue background, mirrored.

On Monday 9th December the lift in my apartment block broke down, and I am once again a prisoner in my own home.
When I reached out to building management, I received a reply stating the repair was complex and expensive, but no timeline on when I would be free again was given.
They also very heavily implied this was my own fault for not living on the ground floor. I explained that accessible, affordable ground floor apartments are very difficult to come by, but I have not had a response since.
I cannot access healthcare.
I cannot go into the office.
I cannot see my friends and family at Christmas.
I cannot live like this. I am scared and tired.
I have reached out to my MP and citizens advice. My employer is even looking into sending them a letter about me being needed in the office.
I also plan to see if any other residents in the building want to help me get this fixed.
If any local news outlets want to pick this up, I’m sure you can get a story out of repeated lift breakdowns since mid-October leaving a disabled person trapped in their own home!
But all I really want for Christmas is to be able to leave my home and come back again safely.
